These bioflavonoids are naturally sourced with rutin being extracted from buckwheat and hesperidin from citrus fruit skins. Bioflavonoids have been the focus of research as they appear to be used by the body in a number of ways; in particular they support vitamin C in the role it plays in the maintenance of healthy collagen and cartilage. These tissues are the main structural components of blood capillary walls which is why rutin, in particular, is sometimes recommended for people who bruise easily.
